Chip

How it works

Four jobs. Three percent.

Chip matches diners, kitchens, and drivers. The kitchen keeps the plate. The driver keeps the tip. Chip takes 3% of the food — on par with Visa, not with a 30% marketplace — and splits that so the neighborhood keeps the rest.

Who does what

The 3% pie

On a $40 plate, Chip’s match is $1.20 — about a card swipe. Kitchen still keeps the full $40. Driver still keeps tip + run. The $1.20 is the only protocol take.

If a city ran on Chip

New York metro food delivery is on the order of tens of billions in gross merchandise value a year. Under incumbents, kitchens lose ~15–30% commission and diners pay stacked fees. Under Chip’s 3% match:

Drivers keep tips and the run in full. Unclaimed scout share stays in the neighborhood — used for $0 first-block delivery and diner credit — not platform rent. How we open New York.
